The Haldi Ceremony

One of the most significant events in all Hindu marriages, the Haldi ceremony is celebrated in the beginning of the marriage day. However, in some rituals it is celebrated a day before the marriage day. This program is celebrated in Bride as well as groom’s house. Haldi (turmeric) paste is prepared along with some more ingredients in it. This paste is applied on bride/groom’s body by their relatives and family. Also, this paste is applied on unmarried faces of groom/bride’s friends and siblings, as it is said that they will also get married sooner. Along with this ceremony, traditional folk songs are being sunged by the ladies present at the place.

Mehndi (The Henna Party)

Mehndi is yet another significant pre wedding event. Generally celebrated in the bride’s home with all the friends, relatives and family members, this program is enjoyed by the females. Men do not participate in this function. Celebrated with great pomp and show, the ladies of the house energizes the surroundings with their vocals singing the traditional folk songs. This event is a complete entertainment platform for the ladies. The henna applied to the bride’s palm and feet is decorated with the elegant design. The first letter of the groom’s name is hidden into the design of the bride’s mehndi design.
